21 SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENTS TO BE HONORED WITH ACADEMY AWARDSR
美國電影藝術科學院(奧斯卡)公布今年 21 個科學及技術獎得主
著名音響工程師及Dolby實驗室主管-David W. Gray 得到 “Gordon E. Sawyer Award” ; 開發digital micromirror技術並應用於DLP劇院投影的 Dr. Larry Hornbeck 得到“Academy Award of Merit “ . 另外 , Steven Tiffen, Jeff Cohen 及Michael Fecik(Tiffen) 以開發減低IR影響的濾鏡而得到“Academy Award of Commendation”
— [技術成就獎] 包括以下的技術開發者 : OpenVDB , MOVA system , ILM Shape Sculpting System , ILM PhysBAM Destruction System., ESC 的 Universal Capture system , Weta Digital的Barbershop hair grooming system , SpeedTree Cinema , DreamWorks Animation 的 Foliage System. Bullet physics library (另有在Bullet上開發的兩個大型 destruction simulation systems) , Digital Molecular Matter toolkit 及 Field3D

The Art of LAIKA?? offered for the first time by Heritage Auctions
以製作Stop motion 動畫電影而著名的製作公司 – LAIKA 將他們2百多件電影公仔 , 模型及道具等公開拍賣 , 包括《Coraline》 , 《ParaNorman》及《The Boxtrolls》等作品 . 拍賣所得的一部分金額將捐獻給當地慈善機構 The Art of Elysium .
CGV support on Wacom Event – CG LIVE platform announced
昨晚 Wacom 舉辦 HK Creators Mash-Up 聚會活動 , Adobe 及 CGV 全力支持 !!
活動邀請了近四十位香港創作知名人仕參與, 包括攝影、插畫、漫畫、時裝設計、3D、動畫製作等的高手雲集。(當中有好多靚女創作人^_^)
同時, 大會昨晚亦公布 ,有多個單位 將與 CGV 合作推出一個以創作為主的網上學習平台 『 CG LIVE 』 , 預計明年初推出 , 希望大家多多支持 !!
SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 papers
SIGGRAPH Asia 2014 已經在深圳開始了 , 有關 技術論文方面 , 今年大會收到破紀錄 355份申請 , 最後收錄了63份來自16個國家地區的論文 – 昨晚在Technical Papers Fast Forward中率先展示有關內容.
